Like EVE, one of the reason's I am drawn to SC is that "Loss is Real" and HTFU is a thing again.

The reality of Loss adds an on-going "frisson" to the game. It adds a "spice" to the most boring, dull moments in the game.

Sitting 30m off of a fat Quant rock, intently, manually, ACTIVELY running the mining laser, your attention solely focused on the tricky and very dangerous job at hand and yet...

You have that "itch" on the back of your neck...
the feeling that something wicked may this way come...
the same itch I used to have in EVE... the itch that constantly whispers... "He's cloaked 2.1K off your port bow."

Now we don not have cloaking tech, IE "invisibility" in SC, but we do have control over our EM, power and heat "emissions". We can manage those emission and therefore our "sig" to a large degree by reducing power or powering down shields, weapons, etc., but that of course leaves us wide open to attack IF (when) discovered.

We can even "make like a rock" by shutting down everything... we then should show only a mass reading on scans... not show up as a ship as such. But powered up, shield on and running a mining laser... I shine like a beacon on scans.

The thing is, in the end... playing is EXCITING again. I was bored to tears in EVE from 2016 to 2020. My sons have left, the core group I flew with moved on. I tried to find a new group, but I was bored with the gameplay in EVE.

SC fixed that in Spades!! I am content with my content. =]
The gameplay is detailed and immersive and it is MORE dangerous than EVE ever was... but in so many BETTER ways!

My problem is I do wan tto be part of a group... I just can't make the time commitment that one needs in order to be really effective in a group so I play the solo game... and unlike EVE, CR/CIG still support solo gameplay.

So yes, I am happy at last in my virtual space life.Turamarth Elrandirhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08129383421613323047noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7050183471078758937.post-76848067720932783192022-02-08T14:45:17.522-05:002022-02-08T14:45:17.522-05:00I wonder if that will get boring after a while - a...I wonder if that will get boring after a while - although you add an element of risk by ensuring your ships are stocked for contingencies. evehermithttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08697252723186987407noreply@blogger.com
